Default VSS help

hi wandering if anyone can help. I need a new vehicle speed sensor as im getting code 17 and 31 i cant seem to find 1 anywhere. I've phoned honda the only thing they could find was a pick up sensor i thought that wasnt the same thing so i left it. any help would be great. Its an automatic 2.2 jap import 92 bb1.

Is it an H22? You can order any OEM parts you want from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com or http://www.slhondaparts.com.

I'm sure there are some but I don't know them...you might find one on eBay though, there's a lot of OEM parts stores on there that ship worldwide.

Before you buy anything though get in there and check out your VSS. There are several different things that could cause a code. You have the actual little black plastic sensor, the larger metal shaft with the gears inside, and even check the wiring connectors and the pins inside for corrosion. The VSS plug sits vertically so it's easy for liquid to just sit there for long periods of time and corrode stuff.

thanks for the advice if i `can find where the speed sensor is i wil inspect and try to clean it. Just having a little trouble finding it unlessits write t the back of the gearox underneath the thrttle body.???

Yep, striaght down from the TB on the transmission. You'll need a flashlight and a long extension.
