Default Slipping auto trans and Lucas ATF treatment ???

Only when the engine is really warmed up, there is a distinctive slip from 1st to 2nd. There is also a slight jerk from 2nd to 3rd. Also in the mornings it takes more then 1 sec for the trans to engage from P to R when I back out. I know that these are all signs of a worn transmission. It's got 160K of original miles and probably will give out soon.

But has anyone tried Lucas ATF treatment ??? I've heard mixed review about it. It doesn't hurt to try it right???

well, it sounds like you've never changed your fluid. So putting in the trans treatment might hurt, or it might help. At this point, it doesn't matter since there's not too much you can do. Flushing the trans might just make the problem worse. The reason for your delayed engagement is because auto trans clutchpacks leave a lot of residue when they wear down. The fluid needs to be flushed about once a year to prevent this from being a problem. Once enough buildup from the clutch material gets inside your valves, etc, there's really no helping the problem. The particles are suspended inside the fluid for now. If you flush it, they might just settle more onto your valve body and make everything worse. However, this is just one theory.

A flush costs around $100 or so if you wanna test the theory. You might waste the money, or it might help your problem. Same with the lucas treatment.

You probably just need a new transmission. Look for someone trying to get rid of theirs after doing an auto to manual swap maybe.

Actually I have changed my ATF just this summer. It was a complete flush w/ some very exspensive Honda ATF. So the fluid is still good.

drain a quart of fluid out, put in a quart of lucas stop slip and it will get you around long enough unti you can replace or rebuild yours.
