OT: Taking interest on a real E8 video production for once.
I'm currently brainstorming my next video production project, It's been almost 2 years since my last one. But I'm thinking a documentary-style DVD not only on E8 but the ITR community as a whole would be something nice to add to personal archives. Youtube videos with techno music don't really do the event any justice.
Granted if this is something that people would seriously be interested in I'd expedite the process of getting my next serious video camera so I can shoot in various progressive HD formats. So I was thinking I would offer a DVD in both standard DVD and Blu-Ray... More than likely shooting at 720p since 1080p will run 1 gb a minute. So I'll have to figure out closer if the time comes how many copies of DVD's and Blu-Ray's would have to be duplicated.
Ideally what I'd like to do if there was a broad interest would maybe fly up and meet with maybe the NYC guys and then maybe Dave and the fl guys and document thier last minute preparations before the event, but that's maybe, it could get rather expensive.
But beyond that I'd like to more than likely get ITRCA to sanction it as an official video and focus more on the itr community using E8 as the backdrop... Do a bunch of interviews with all of the itr og's.. Then maybe have a few guys with their own cameras shooting incar footage to agree to let me transfer it via firewire at vir since nobody is going to want a big $5,000 camera behind their seat so I wouldn't worry about in-car quality. Basically almost following the format they did with the pursuit of function dvd without the jdm emphasis.
So now getting to the point, would this be something people would be widely interested in? Desired format? and what would you like to see especially?
Thanks
steve

Since you brought up a good topic of documenting cross country travel I'd consider it, I mean how dedicated is that. I'd have full intentions on getting yummies on cam as soon as he got into danville... However as far as taking footage from other cam's it creates a little extra bs in the post production process using standard definition video in a HD/widescreen project... But it'd be a must for incar footage.... But yes it'd be a key element to include in the project.

Like stated before I'm going to have to keep it limited on what video gets contributed because this is going to be a 16:9 widescreen/720p HD project.... incorporating 4:3/480i SD video kills project continuity, plus it makes more headaches... Mostly it goes back to me being a quality *****... The items I'd take in submission would be limited to special cases/in-car track footy.

Definitely, get a solution to mount a camera so the world can see your 500whp spin your way right into the dirt at turn 12

Most newer camcorders have a 16:9 option. Granted it will not be in 720p but I'm also guessing that half the people here do not have an HD TV anyway.

progressive and interlaced are two different things.
sounds like a lot of work involved and not sure how I would be able to help out. could always fly up to NYC to document the NE Caravan. never a dull moment

This sounds awesome, I would definitely pay for a DVD when the time comes, as far as contributing, I don't have an HD camera nor a way to have an in car camera but I do have a PS3 for the blu ray version, so that would be totally worth it, let me knw if you need any ideas for the film and please do not include techno crap, I'd rather hear everyone vtakin!!!!11!!!!!111

Steezy for sheezy in FL? Come on down bra. I've got a place for ya to crash. Maybe have everyone from here souf meet up at the shop.
Your more than welcome to use some of my in car as well, or if your fancy pants HD cam will mount on my I/O port mount, we can put it in the car. Just LMK.
Hell, I'd be willing to pay one way to FL, then you could caravan up with the FL/SE guys and go from there.
Just don't say you'll do it, and have everyone hounding you for years when you don't.
