Default b20a cam sensor question:

So here's my question: does the cam sensor shaft that inserts into the exhaust cam have a top or bottom( what I mean: can i install it 180 degrees off?)

I thought this job would be easy and done in a few hours. but after two days of ******* everything up, my car still doesnt run.

AND can the valves be bent while cranking the engine over if the timing is off
(my brother had a b18a integra and his timing belt broke and he didnt know so he cranked over his engine until he realized what happened and no damage was done: IS this the whole purpose of the cam sensor( to shut off the ignition system to eliminate the possible damage to the pistons and valves if the engine were to fire up?

thanks a lot HONDA Enthusiasts
