help installing new battery and cables
Took my 1999 Acura Integra GSR to get a new battery and 1 hr they called and said the cables were corroded onto the terminals and that I had to take it somewhere else b/c they didn't have my cables. When I looked under the hood, the terminal and cable (positive) were totally charred and MELTED (don't know how they did that) so I had to have it towed b/c at that point they couldn't even jump it...
Long story short, I'm hoping I can fix it myself instead of paying 400 to the dealer. I know they have the right parts at Napa, but is this pretty easy to do or should I just have someone else do it?
Thanks for your help.

If you have to pay $400 for the work, you have bigger problems than the cables.
But, let's help you through this mess, okay!
First step, take off your existing "melted' cables.
Positive first, then neg.
REMOVE BOTH and take them with you for samples.
That is the kind of thing I get OE,, but NAPA should be fine,, they have good products.
Just make sure, by taking your samples in with your, that the new ones are the same length, Just not shorter than what you have.
Clean all connections free of all corrosions.
Install in reverse order.
Coat your terminals this time with a little petroleum jelly once installed and tightened. Seal if you have covers, reset your clock, radio stations and you should be good to go!
take pride in that engine bay,, it's what gets you around, bro!

Thanks so much. I was worried b/c some old dude at Napa told me I shouldn't do it myself cause "they don't make 'em like the old days" and that "they got all kinds of funny stuff hooked up to 'em these days". So, he's wrong right?
Also, I hook the cables to the battery first and then the starter? Don't wanna get shocked.

I think that means you connect all the wire before you connect the batteries.
