1989 Pelude 2.0S Check Engine Light...Help
Does any one know how to check the code? The car seems to be running fine. The light usually comes on in the first 5 min of starting the car. Sometimes immediatly. I would rather not take it to a machanic. Thank you to all you may be able to help. by the way i am new on this forum.

There are two ways about finding codes in our cars....
Turn the key to the on position but don't turn the engine on.
Pull the carpet on the passenger side and look at the ECU, it will have a red blinking LED... count the flashes.
There are long flashed and short flashes.... long flashes count as 10
short as 1
So if you have 2 long flashes and 3 short ones, you'll have code 23....
The second way on doing this, in the engine bay, next to the vacuum box, there is a yellow connector with a cap. Remove the cap and insert a wire to jump the harness... this will make the Check engine light (MIL) activate and then it'll do the same thing as the light on the ECU...
