Default Anyone used a 4.9 final drive for the track

I use a 4.77 right now and havnt really heard of anyone using the 4.9 or higher for track use. Has anyone used it or heard of anyone who has. How did you think it worked. Looking for a little more pull out of corners.

I believe it's J's Racing that has one that's using a 5.1 gear.

It think it'll all depend on what track you're at though. You don't want to potentially short change yourself on the long straight away.

yeah I guess thats more what im looking for. how big of a difference will there be in straight away speed with a 4.9 compared to the 4.7. mid ohio has the longest straight away of tracks i run. enough to where it would hurt your times more than help?

Well I'm not sure what kind of speeds you're hitting at the end of the straight before you have to brake.

If you're bouncing off the rev limiter before hitting that brake zone on the straight then you know you've got the wrong gear set.

On an Ap1 with 245/50/16 tires, 5.1gears will give you a top speed of roughly 138.7 mph, with 4.9gears 144.4 mph, with 4.77gears 148.3 mph. These are calculated numbers and do not factor in head/tail wind, down/up hill and so on.
