Default Alcohol mixed with gasoline.

Hey, I was told that if you pour a few spoons for distilled alcohol to the engine, it gives you more power, is that true? also that if you use nitromethan mixed with gasoline increases your power as well, is any of this true?

I wouldn't go messing with nitromethane.

Ethanol is mixed with gasoline currently. Look at your local pump, and it will tell you if ethanol is being used.

I have a friend how mixes ethanal with gasoline to produce a higher octane fuel.... I don't what proportions he uses though

But as far as dumping some distilled alcohol or nitromethane... I woudn't mess with it, especially not nitromethane.

Besides.. with a stock computer controlled motor, I don't see any advantages to messing with fuel... only disadvantages.

on a carburated car, with internal modifications, yes you may see changes.

I read an article in Hot Rod Magazine that said unless you run all alcohol, the alky they add to gasoline is more of a filler than anything. Usually "cheaper" gas stations do that.

also used as an antifreeze/water remover, most gas stations will ad more alcohol during the winter time.

Yeah, some 40%. Make sure you shim the head and put in a cooler glow plug. LOL. That would be total destruction of a normal engine. Would look sweet, though, when it let go.

higher octane does not make power it only allows for maore aggresive timing. Then you can make more power with tuning
