Default $4 seat pad

I wanted to add more to the seat pad on the SV I bought for the track, and looking around the internets I found a bunch of retailers selling seat foam for $35-80 (plus shipping and waiting). I thought this was pretty unacceptable for a flat piece of foam, so I figured there had to be a better way...

REI - $4

They also have these - $17 for a pair - they already have adhesive on the back.

They're both very similar, if not the same - I bought one of each.

The original pad -

The $4 foam

Make a pattern...

To cut this out it HAS to be done with an x-acto (sp?) knife, or similar. A utility blade wont work, its too wide/dull and I chewed up a piece of foam with one.

The $17 foam - its identical to the $4 foam except it has adhesive on the back and its a little smaller

I put another foam layer on the bump pad behind the seat with the adhesive backed stuff to see how it well it sticks, and it stays on there but it can be peeled back off pretty easily.

I think for this stuff, the $4 foam and some spray adhesive ($5-10) is the way to go.

Let us know how long it lasts!

Does it stay dry?

Wear bicycle chamois shorts, you'll thank me at the end of a long day of riding.

How so? Superbike tails are just a flat piece of fiberglass - put whatever you want on them

Did you try cutting it with utility shears... you know, the kind they cut chicken bones with? Seems like that would work best.
