Default D Series Axle replacement

The time has finally come for me to replace my stock axles due to a worn CV joint. After reading through the FAQ's on how to replace one I decided to tackle this on my own. Little did I know that I would have run into so much trouble. First off the axle that needs the most attention is the driver side. My problem is that I cant break the damn axle nut loose. I pried out the the piece on the nut so that it can be removed to start with. I soaked it in PB Blaster and after a few minutes I hit it with the impact. No luck, didnt even budge. Thinking that my impact doesnt have enough torque I bust out the breaker bar with a ghetto-fied pipe on the end for more leverage. Still didnt work. So I put the wheel back on lower the car and try to break it loose while all four wheels are on the ground. Nothing. What the hell else can I try to break this loose? Or should I move this over to the Kills Stories?

What's your compressor's air pressure set to? Turn it up to 120psi or so for the duration and you should be fine. If your gun just won't do the deed, call Advance Auto or Autozone and see if you can rent a more powerful impact gun.

i had the same problem
heated it up for about 3 min, and still bent the breaker bar but it finally came off
i used a 4' pole on the ratchet and a 4 foot pole to hold the rotor still.
it will come off just have to give it alot of muscle

It was only set to 80psi but I will crank it up now.

I take it that you heated it up with a torch? I was afraid to do that because of all the PB Blaster I had sprayed
I just shoved a BMF screwdriver into the slot of the rotor. Where are you anchoring yours?

im anchoring it through the studs for the lug nuts.
def takes 2 people to do this
just let the pb blaster evap a bit and keep a spray bottle by and you'll be fine
and yes a torch, u can get a cheap one from autozone or wherever

Thanks dudes. The only thing I had to do was turn up the pressure on the air compressor then it zipped right off. Maybe it was all of the PB Blaster I sprayed before.
But for all of you guys that helped out. Thanks.

Well the torque specs are something like 134ft/lbs on the nut and then take into consideration all the years that the nut been on there, it'll become pretty stuck.
