Help on tranny snap ring....
okay, took my tranny housing apart cause a piece of metal from the vss feel into the vss hole. Got the tranny apart, found the metal piece, hondabond the housing, got it back together, and all bolts screw/torqued in.
Now the snap ring won't go on the countershaft bearing groove. I searched and tried eveything from the flathead screwdriver, to the phone book/wood tap, shake, etc...and still nothing. The snap ring is sitting at the side of the bearing...right about the groove, but no matter what I tried...countershaft won't move up so the snap ring can go on.

You're gonna laugh... Take the tranny and flip it so the bell housing is facing straight up and then tap the whole thing on the floor. 1-2 bumps on a cement floor has always worked for me. Just make sure you have a few of the bolts in place holding the two pieces of the case together or else it will twist and not pop in.
I know it sounds nuts, but I've done it countless times and it always works. Got that trick from an old mechanic friend who's been doing it for 30+ years.

so its best if I don't have the housing bolts all bolted and torqued down? Well, I'm going to take it apart and do it all over. Weird thing is, I didn't even touch anything...only unbolted and took out stupid piece that fell in.

Key thing to do is BEFORE installing any of the bolts and after the case havles are close, use your reverse pliers to open the snap ring. Then I typically only install about 1/2 the bolts and only snug with a wratchet. Then have a thick phone book on the floor and turn the tranny over and bounce it on the phone book. Do not bounce it on the concrete floor please. Typically it doesn't need a hard bouncing either. If the case halves are not almost touching....without using the bolts to pull the case together, something is not lined up and you need to try it again. I have built over 30 trannies and the case is the hardest part about them all. Just be patient with it.
