Default Alternator/battery problem

I have a 1995 Integra Gsr..Yesterday morning I tried to start my car and it was dead...so i push started it..This morning it was dead again..so i push started it again..after 8 hours of working it was dead again and had to jump it..so when i got home i turned off the car and i waited 2 minutes and tried starting it..and it was kinda hesistating to start cause of lack of power..?can this be that my battery needs to be replaced or my alternator is bad? i remember before my alternator belt on my esi broke and when i would press the gas it would hesitate to accelerate and the battery light was on..but on my gsr no battery light on..any input? thanks in advance

More than likely your battery is weak and cannot hold a charge, especially after describing your 2 minute test. I would get the battery tested/replaced. If the battery tests ok, you might have a high parasitic load, or weak starter. Did it crank ok when jumped?

Most autopart stores will check your alternator / battery for free. You may also have something as simple as a bad fuse.

thanks guys..when i did the 2 minute test it was a weak start even when i jumped the car it was drained...thank god it is unlikely the alternator cause that would be a bitch..i have a cheap fusion system with a built in amp that has a light that stays on all the time..can that be draining the battery? if so what can i do to prevent that in the future?

Wire your amp the correct way so it turns off when your car is off. Your remote wire should fix that. And you can test to get a better idea if your batery is bad or the alternator... Get a voltage tester and place positive to positive on battery. While car started. If you have a good alternarter it should read some were around 13.5V if thats good. turn the car off and hold tester to battery to check voltage drop.

Disconnect your AMP. and see if it drops the same

Check distilled water level in battery

The correct way would be to get a digital voltage meter and connect the positive lead to the positive post on the battery, and the negative lead of the meter to the negative lead of the battery. then start the car. the voltage should read approx 14.5 volts to14.6 . No more then 15 volts or less then 13.9 or the alternator has a bad regulator. With the car at rest the battery should hold a steady 12 volts to a 12.6 volts. If not in that area have the battery charged and rechecked. Remember this. A stock battery can only be drained so many time be for it develops a memory and will never have its full potential again

Take it to your local auto parts store and ask them for a battery and charging system check. They'll do it for free.
