Default Is it okay to run 18degrees advance daily ?

I had just set my timing and set it to 18 instead of 16. Is there anything wrong with running 18 degrees advance daily? This is a b18c and I run 91octane all the time.

That's perfectly fine. 18 degrees BTDC is within the factory recommend spec range.

That is within spec. The knock sensor would cause the ECU to intervene if there was a problem (GSR and ITR only). My 97 GSR has been that way for years. You should be fine.

Not to knock you, but are these gains worth it? I've always wondered about this.

Advancing the timing is free, so there's no reason why it wouldn't be "worth it". The only issue is the fact that certain dyno charts have shown the ideal setting on a particular motor wasn't necessarily the most advanced (in other words, 18 degrees made a bit less power than, say, 16 degrees). Furthermore, the gains involved are quite minor, and likely fall within the natural variations between dyno runs.
