Default Whats the deal with OEM bearings and OEM parts in general?

everything is back ordered lately, bearings especially. Anybody know if there's a strike or ship lost at sea with all our precious OEM parts in it? This is getting rediculous.

Tell me about it. I had to call many different places just to get a dang gasket.

Maybe it has something to do with B series engines being out of production now???

No. manufacturers are required to support products for 10 or 20 years after
discontinuation.

I got an almost full set of LS main and rod bearings right as they were becoming "extinct" I was short 2 brown mains but a guy here on H-T "hooked" me up.

All the local dealers say they can't get them.

while we are on the subject of bearings.....I determined that I need green rod bearings, but I am installing them with crower rods, does that make any difference? Also, is there anywhere online you can order bearings?

umm

how can you determine that you need a certain type of bearing /without/ taking the rod big end size into account?

Are you sure you need all GREEN. . .I was under the impression that it was rare to have all rod bearing the same color (although mine were all green). How can you color code the rod bearings for the crower rods, are there letters to help you color code them?

All the big ends of your crower rods should measure identical. If all your crank journals measure the same, you would want the same color bearings for each rod. Not sure how you made the determination of green. Green bearing thickness is .0591-2". To determine clearance, take the id of the big end of your crowers, subtract .0591 two times and then subtract the thickness of your rod journal. What's left is your bearing clearance. We don't need no stinkin plastigage.
