i just got my 91 si hatch and it smokes black smoke...it has a motor that has been sitting for a while maybe 1 year...so couldit just be stuff built up in the motor or what? if anybody has had this problem let me know...other then that i am back to hatchs!

 

your headgasket is probably going out.

 

that was always blue or blue tinted this is like black

 

COrrect me if I am wrong but I think black smoke is running rich....

 

Correct! Blue is oil and white is water/coolant (headgasket).

It could be burning off the carbon build up or you may need an o2 sensor. Are you getting a check engine light?
