Default Paint or Vinyl wrap

So my friend backed up into my teg with an escalade. Not even that hard actually. Ended up breaking a headlight cracking the bumper , bending the fender and the hood and bending the frame a little.
So right now he bought me a new front end (unfortunately not JDM)
instead of getting those panels to be painted i told him just tell the guy to fix all the rust on the car (Especially my wheel wells)
anyways when i get the car back im plannin on painting it myself but the company my mother works for is looking for cars to do vinyl wrapping for free. The theme would be a racing theme like nascar , hopefully wouldnt say nascar on it.
so what do you think is the better option , im thinkin of leanin towards the vinyl because it would look really unique
but the downside i would have to keep it on for 1 whole year

Hey man, dont do the wrap! I have 8 years experience wrapping buses, street

cars, subways, GO trains (for ppl in da GTA) and anything else that moves. If

there are any inperfections under the vinyl, they will project thru. Itd be like

painting over rust, dirt, scratches, dents whatever.... and when the vinyl begins to

peel overtime, (for a FULL wrap, guarentee it will start to peel after 8 monthes or

so) it will trap moistue and dirt. Causing more rust!!

...but hey, if you want NASCAR on your car, go 4 the wrap! Maybe you can get matching NASCAR hats and jackets!

It will be much easier if you stick to the existing colour. Have you painted a car before? Have you considered an inexpensive paint job from someplace like Maaco?

I'd save up for a bit. Even one of Maaco's least expensive options will likely come out better than your first attempt at painting a vehicle, and probably won't cost much more, especially since you'll need to purchase all the tools and materials.

If you're really set on doing an inexpensive DIY paint job, you should read this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1555133

Call the dealer and give them your vin number, or get the color code from the driver side door jam, they will be able to tell you the color name.

Not to keep telling you what to do BUT Dont do the primer thing either, unless you love sanding! Think about it like this, You sand the whole car and primer it, with primer you have to buy, and enuf for the whole car, not just a spray can for a few small spots. When it comes time to paint, you have to sand the whole car AGAIN! , and still buy paint, enuf for the whole car!!

If you are willing to do the prepping, heres the cheapest way without having to paint it your self.

1) Find a body shop, not Maaco. (heard and seen horror stories) and work out a deal with the guy for him to just spray it. Thats it. In the booth and spray.

2) Get your paint code and go to an automotive paint supply place. Walk up to the counter and tell him how much paint and clear you want, with reducer and hardener so it can be mixed, and tell him you want %20 of that! You would be surprised at what they give you if you just tell them what you want, hell try %30!! The trick is, act like you are from a local bodyshop and you are in a jam, and you need this paint as fast and cheap as possible. They will want to eat it a lil now to keep you happy with hopes of repeat business in the future from your shop!

3) Get your sandpaper and start sanding!

4) Drive to the paint shop and bring tools. Once in the parking lot, remove any lights and other easily removed items to avoid having to mask them and paint around them. Besides, that makes ANY paint job look ***!

5) Mask the car for the painter.

6) Painter sprays and you stay busy for a few hours.

7) Go get car. Put everything back on and drive home!

You can even cut more corners by buy a cheaper brand of paint if you wanted to!

But unless you have sprayed B4....follow all steps and just cut out the painter!

EDIT: Just noticed you said the front clip is the only thing to be painted. Thats even cheaper and easier. Half the materials and half the time!!
