Default Dented header. How much power loss?

How much of a low end torque loss would this cause? Any mid range and highpower loss as well?

No one can tell you how much..
But we can tell you it's neither good nor helpful.

Could this cause damage to the motor because exhaust gases wont escape properly?

I didn't think so but am I wrong?

theres air still going to ur exhaust, if its not chocking u should be fine, or replace the header if ur worried about it so much, oh and sinse ur not in CA, u can put something different like megan or other ebay headers, the down pipe should be the same sense they are just copy of DC

My downpipe was like that. I drilled holes and pulled the dents out with a dent puller. Then filled the holes up by welding. Unfortunately, I hit a huge pothole shortly after the repair and dented the same spots again.

Do they make a dent puller that small? What size drill bit did you used?

it will cause a 17.68 horsepower loss, and a 13.29 torque loss....give or take .43%, assuming a total dented area of 1.94 sq. in., and assuming the dent is in the 3rd quadrant of the header. If the interior cavity of the header was coated in sheep's blood before the install, the losses will not be as significant.....you did coat the interior cavity in sheep's blood, didn't you??!!

Ahhhhhh. So THAT'S why my stock Si can't crack in to the 12's. I used fish guts instead of sheep's blood. My bad.

But in all seriousness, I don't think it would create any excessive back pressure that may cause damage. But it is ugly looking, and probably worth replacing sometime in the future.

All that can be said for certain is that it'll lose "some" power. It might be 1hp, or 10, or anything in between.

You could always coat it in axle grease inside. Supposedly it lubes up the passages for the air and picks up m4d p0wa in vtaK. Ask mattsnooz

right....the air just slips on the lube. but you have to be sure to get the high-temp-high-grip axle grease, or it will just burn away and it will come out the exhaust (like in j-rome's thread with the plugs growing fuzz and exhaust spitting black junk.)

that's why you coat it in sheep's blood first....so the grease has something to hang onto. duh.....
