Default 96' H22A1 w/ p28: TDC CEL, misfire, rough start, and no VTEC

i recently converted my OBDII H22 to ODBI P28. i went to have a buddy street tune it with crome and he was unable to because of my CEL...it comes and goes. He checked it out and said the code was one of the TDC sensors (he didnt specify which, i know there are two) I told him about a year or so ago my T-belt snapped and broke the plastic around what i now believe to be the crank angle sensor (looks like a round magnet right beside the crank.

the sensor itself and the wiring didnt appear to be damaged so i just glued the plastic back together and it was fine. my tuner is under the impression thats the problem but it doesnt make sense for it to become a problem a year or so later and just now throw a CEL. Also i think that sensor has its own malfunction code, right?

right now, we're stuck because of the TDC CEL (which would explain the rough start right?). i have no idea why VTEC isnt working but the car is misfiring pretty badly at low RPMs. just started doing it yesterday. the first step is guess is to take care of the CEL light....where are these TDC sensors (one's in the distributor right?) and how do i find out which one to replace or if thats even the problem??

i just talked with him and the CEL is code # 8. TDC sensor number 1. is that located in the distributor? we're gonna get together tonight and he has a spare disty we can try out.

The TDC sensor is mounted down on the oil pump.

Fix it, that is definitely why you have rough starts going on.

is this the TDC sensor or is it part of this part? i hope so because its the one that was damaged when my t-belt snapped and i just ordered a new one. its labeled "crank-tdc sensor" on the hondaparts site.
