Default Key Doesn't Work On Driver's Side After Being Locked Out

ok after about 4 hours of aggravation, my rigged up solution doesn't work ... here's a lil background info i locked myself out car, sheriff had to use some tool to open door now my key doesn't unlock the door, the lock works from inside though and with the electric lock ... i see the problem the little circle that's attached to the key hole on the handle isn't attached to the metal level bar, i had tried to tie it to it as a temp fix but that worked for less than 24 hours. what are the parts i need to replace? thanx in advance guys
