Default Update The VERDICT!!!

Well, after all was said and done tonight, we couldn't get my car to idle properly at all, and we only hit 192/130 or so SAE corrected I'll email the dyno plots to whoever can post them, I'm about to go to sleep...but unfortunately I feel the TIGHT *** timing belt are causing these low #'s because of it's drag on the engine...kind of like taking off the power steering belt and gaining hp....
But I have ultimately decided to ditch this setup...so in the classifieds you will find TONS of stuff for sell , I'm most likely going boost.....

Ouch, sorry to hear about the low numbers. Look on the good side your only like 12whp of your goal right? Didn't you want to hit like 210 or so? Play with the car some more and who knows, maybe you'll bang out another 5-10 horse.

And I would rather have a car that puts out 190whp with a timing belt that isn't going to break, than a 200whp ticking time bomb.

Best of luck with whatever you do.

Does anybody have a link to the post where everybody had to guess what the new motor would make?

I think I got the Hp right. But, I was off by about 4 ft-lbs on the torque.

Pinhead,

Post the graph along with your mods and tuning procedure. Maybe some of us can give you some pointers to get some better numbers.

Don't be upset. Those numbers are still very respectable. After all, they are just numbers. Good dyno numbers don't ALWAYS correlate to good track times. Cars with less power can still get around the track quicker than cars with more power (let the flames begin).

Having good dyno number is cool but enjoying and being happy with what you have is far more important.

You can't quit already. You just got that setup. I'm sure there's more power to be squeezed out of there.

I say get resident MILF Hunter Mike K or call East Coast sensation SGT to tune that damn thing for you. I mean damn quitting already?

I don't really understand that move.

I was pretty close as well on the numbers. Fully built you should have sleeved to 84.5 if you wanted big numbers. They had that nice SMS header B20 spec down there waiting. I know I'll get flamed on this one but trying to break 200whp on 81.5 or smaller is VERY difficult as mike k, kenji or anyone else knows.

Whats gonna happen when you turbo it and some guy with 195hp ITR comes and kicks your *** because you can't get traction? You gonna sell that too? Max HP and useable HP are 2 totally different things.

I believe there was a good quote from a thread long ago about why everyone was selling their Toda B's... went something like, "...everyone bought into the hype, and when they found out you had to tune and buy more mods, they jumped ship." (Of course, not exact.)

Pinhead, that aint too bad man, just give it some more time to tune. You said already that the timing belts may have something to do with it, I would just explore all the options first. Actually I know of a place here in Orlando where you can do a bunch of dyno runs for a fairly good price, so you could spend more time on it if you still wanted to, but you probably have a place where you go anyways. Well, hope it all works out for you. Remember, everybody's motor ends up performing differently, some end up 'molding' together better over time, and therefore some end up producing more power with mods, just takes some time to figure out how(and at what settings) 'your' engine will react to mods the best at. I'm sure you know this, I just love the N/A set-up for R's so I hate to see people 'give up' kinda soon sometimes. But if boost is what you want then go for it, its your time and money, and they can be very finicky as well, but enjoy, to each his own.
PS, let m know about that shift **** bolt, I'd like to get it soon. C-ya.

Your numbers look very low too (no offense). Perhaps it was just a bad day? Pinhead, keep working on it, you have alot of potential.

the dyno sheet is being posted up NOW, A/F was at 13.8:1 or so, that's where it liked it....cams are set at +10 -4, and IT DOES NOT IDLE AT ALL!!! otherwhise I wouldn't mind the 191whp, it's quick....just take a look timing at 14degrees btw
