Bad gas milage = Clogged Catalytic Converter?????
So Ive been getting really bad gas milage in my 95 ls about 125 miles when 20.00 is put in. I checked my catalytic converter and when I hit it the stuff inside rattles around, could this be the reason why Im getting such bad milage? thanks
is a possibility, i usaly get 300 miles a tank, and im only gett 125 now. i wacked out the insides of my cat, and put a turbo exhaust on. Now im still getting bad gas milege, but i think my piston rings are bad and head gasket.
try wacking the insides out, its not hard. just make sure you have some replacment bolts.

if you hit your cat with a wrench, and stuff rattles around, i think thats the sign that its bad.
and 125 miles when i put 20$ in isnt a very reliable thing to go on... say it in gallons. or better yet, fill up, reset your trip meter, then when you fill up next time divide the miles by the gallons put in and you have an exact figure, or close enough if you fill it up to the same level.
