Default OT: Baby sitting ITR for weekend my impressions on the ITR

Well last night I was handed the keys to 00-595 to watch for the next 3 days wile Thomas (tjtruong) went out of town. I know I know "Friends dont let friends drive their R's But I did not want him to leave his R in a public parking lot for those ******* thieves out there to pick it apart so I gave him my car to put out in harms way But if my car is jacked I am going to get a ITR for sure after today.

Well I am verry familar with the ITR history and what not. I have riden at the limits in one and have been luckily aloud to drive one once and a wile. But damn I never expected the experpence I was in for this morning on the way to work. I got up like a 5 year old kid on Christmas all happy and waiting to see what was under the tree but I wanted to feel the HONDA marvel. I get in and she holds me like a golve and I fire her up. At this point I am pumped up and ready to role after I warm her up for 3-5 min. As I role down my street I feel the rigidity of the car and its calling towards the road ahead. Taking my usual rout to work I never knew that a PY ITR came with woman in the MSRP **** I had mores stairs than Britney Spears in a mall. So now I am feeling hella good and happy but then my famous S turn comes up to enter the freeway and I got on it a little and I stress that as this car is not mine and I dont feel like recking somebodys baby. Damn the car hooks up to the ground like spider man climbs buildings. A slow car in fornt of me is holding me up so I check my mirrors and see how much a difference a B18C5 is over my B16A2 drop in 3rd and Bam!!! that **** took off and the N1 scarred the old lady I passed. Well finaly got to work and all i could think about is the drive home all day long

I must say all you ITR guys are lucky SOB's this car is on rails all the time this one even more after the KIRK role bar and Bilstien shocks were installed. Well I plan on giving her a good detail and wash inside & out on sat for giving me the most fun I have had in a car. Why I baught a SI and not a ITR I will never know . Especially after I have sunk 15K plus in mine to handle and pull like a R and it still is not the same

Pros
steering = love it not PS and not no PS but Power assist love the feed back
Power= pulls at all RPM's
LSD damn did not know it made that much of a difference in cornering
Pimp factor= Chicks dig the PY ( not to say that Black is not dope as hell)

Cons
No dome light up front by visors
after installing Kirk rolebar dome light does not exist
Me for not buying one of these babys

I want to thank thomas for letting me enjoy the whole R relm and experience and Mr Honda for making suck a beast.

I just hope my baby comes back to me so I can still drop the heart of the R into her You think a locking car cover Autolock, club, and fuel cut switch will do it? But they can still toe it oh well if they get it Im going to get a ITR for sure

You have ot give me credit on saving a R from bieng tampered with and possibly raped. This HT **** is taking one for the team

Glad to cross over to the darkside

Man, I didn't want an ITR until I read this forum. When I learned enough about it I finally went out and drove one. After that first drive I too crossed to the darkside and I haven't looked back since.

Damn Type R Forum, look what it has done to me

Same here - as a matter of fact I bought one without ever setting foot in one. Haven't regretted it since (damn Jeff I hope you're enjoying that //M coupe )

good write up too

ROFL hell yea, I was having second thoughts about getting my Black R after looking at it for about 30 mins in the showroom floor with Zero miles on it.
Then I took the test drive... AND THAT WAS THAT, I WAS IN LOVE...
Traded in my 2000 EBP Civic Si for the black beast...
Best choice I ever made in my life.

Underrated99si, nice review.. I too wish I had purchased a new R.. Unfortunately, 2 years ago when I purchased my 2000 SI, I knew very little about Hondas and didn't know the R existed. I find myself, driving my SI less, to keep the miles down so I can possibly pick up an ITR in the near future..

My decision went out to buy the ITR over Prelude is because it seems cheaper (not till I get the insurance bill!), rare and has bling factors (PY yO!). But in all honesty, the major decision factor is by watching a dozen volumes of JDM Best Motoring vids that let me realized the superiorities of this car over the more "common" cars. Watching Nakaya/Gansan driving gave me lots of fantasy.

I was actually disappointed when first driving the car...I was breaking in and trying hard not to break 70mph, not to mention I am still new at stick as I borrowed a friend's manual Accord for two days before picking up the ITR. I notice the car is bumpy and noisy, little do I know what the reasons are and their meaning. Then I had some bling blings put up in the car(you guessed it! Altezza and stickers yo!)....however, my riceboy history lasted only 2 months when I joined a SCCA event, and after joining the ITR forum, I too, never looked back again. A long journey of real racing is awaiting me, I'll never forget about this car...till the day I close my eyes.

I would have gotten CW except my last Integra was white and I liked the idea of having a newer car that had very low mileage and many years of warranty. I would have got PY just because it's an eye catcher and the best looking car at the track (IMHO) but I decided on black because it's sleek and NOT going to draw attention from everyone, it still draws enough. I really never get reved on, of course, that may just be because where I live. Last night when I went to the drag strip in Tulsa I was getting reved on and tailed by people all over town
