Default Out with the old, in with the new: Miyagi's VSM hatchback build thread

Sold my beater for 650 the other day and picked up this VSM hatchback from a buddy for 1000 as a rolling shell on steelies.

Already has some minor things done to it and is in good condition overall. Definately needs a respray as the hood and hatch are both black, one side has an attempted color matched molding and mirror. It also needs a taillight.

This isn't going to be an all out build, but i'm pretty excited nonetheless. It's just going to be my daily driver and my honda fix for a while.

already comes with some suspension, not sure what but i think H&R springs on KYB struts w/ blox LCAs. It's also has a rear disc conversion. The engine bay is cleaned up as far as wiring goes, but isn't tucked. The interior is in great shape, GSR leathers in the rear and prelude seats up front. I'll probably pick up some GSRs for the front as well.

I'm supposed to be getting a b16 swap for 500-750 soon, but if that falls through, there's a local one for sale as well. I'm gonna try to get one or the other before the end of november so i can drive it in the winter.

The only definate plan i have for the car is an H2B, but that won't be for some time after I get everything else situated.

I'm going to keep a total cost of the car as it is as well, and get pics of everything as it's done... we'll see how it goes.

Here's a picture of my last build (which is FOR SALE!!!). It wasn't intended to go as far as it did either haha .. so we'll see where this one goes.

and here are the only pictures of the car I have at the moment, since i haven't picked it up just yet. I probably won't pick it up or even look at it until I get a motor for it ... but i'll post any new pictures as I come across them.

Total Cost
Car purchased on 10/20/07: 1000
GSR swap purchased on 11/04/07: 1800

Just curious what was your old beater? 650 is damn cheap.

thanks for the replies guys.

I'm not sure if there's any rust .. because i didn't really check it out in detail.. kinda just bought it on a whim the other day. If there is, it's nothing bad for sure.

It was a 93 civic ex coupe. It was wrecked in the rear passenger side, but fixed before i bought it. I spray bombed it flat black to cover the primer/oem purple mix. It had 200k+ on it, and was over heating pretty bad. I picked it up for 400 bucks from an old stripper girlfriend i had who was moving to florida and needed money quick ... i actually only drove it for 2 weeks or so and it's sat for the past 3 months. I bought the parts to fix it, and a friend of mine is doing it because he owes me a little money. I just sold it to a girl i work with because she needs a cheap car, and i found this one.

----

should be picking up a 1500 gsr tomorrow with a friend, he's getting the gsr swap and i get the b16 swap out of his del sol. So at the most i just have to pay 750 and then we still have the gsr to sell to make some money back (wrecked in the front). I'm pretty pumped about that

I'm also calling about an h22 long block a buddy of mine has that i think he spun a bearing in, but is getting rid of for cheap cheap cheap. If the price is right, and it's not too bad - i'm gonna pick it up and save it to be built

I find out in 2 hours if we're getting that integra today or not.. hopefully we do so i score the cheap b16 swap.

Also called my buddy about his H22 longblock ... 500 bucks takes it. Just not sure if i feel like swinging the cash just yet.

Either way - things look like they're going well for this build and it just started

my buddies couldn't find a truck to pick the GSR up today, sooo we'll try it again when the guy gets back in town in 2 weeks...

If not there's still a local swap i'm thinking about.

Still debating to pick up the h22 longblock or not ... i have the extra money, but it definately needs some work and i don't really need it right now... so who knows.

decided against the H2B, because i'm just going to sell this car in spring.

BUT, i picked up a GSR swap today from a buddy who's going K for 1800.

Comes with some extra stuff as well, like a blox intake manifold (stock one included), intake and header of some sort, and m4d tyte jdm yo gold shift linkage.

I'm going to try to get the car towed to his garage this week sometime and drop it in, since he's pulling it today. I'll get some pictures ASAP.
