Default 89 Si overheating

Can anyone pls help! I just bought this Civic, The guy was running only water in the coolant. I drained it and didnt fill or bleed it properly or something, now when i drive it it overheats. If i let it idle it slowly cools. when it overheats the overflow container bubbles and the top hose is the only one hot! My fan does come on but it dosent blow warm air inside only cold. I try to bleed the system but only steem comes out no fluid. I see alot of info on blown head gaskets, i havent driven it hard yet so i should be that. Any help would be great! Thermostat? Bleed it more? More Coolant?

Sounds like you still have air in there. Bleed the block untill fluid comes out then tighten it back up.
