sunroof jammed?!
My car has been sitting in the shop for the past two weeks getting the tranny rebuilt and body work fixed after a dumptruck slammed her while sleeping.
I haven't used the sunroof since before then and when I picked up my car (finally) this morning the sunroof wouldn't open. It will edge up for a second and then stop. It will close from that point with no problem. The motor seems to work fine, but it almost seems as if its jammed. I have yet to manually open it up and check, but I wanted to ask you guys if you have had a similar problem and what I should look for or even do to fix this. Thanks a lot.

i have a 97 prelude and my sunroof also sticks when trying to open it. i checked under the rubber seal that surrounds the sunroof glass and found rust all around. i have yet to figure out how that came to be as the drain tubes are clear. i noticed that the rust build up pinched the rubber against the body, causing the 'stuck' effect.
check yours... lata.

you sure the body shop did proper work?..
After getting smacked buy a dump truck I wouldn't be suprised if your roof is contorted, and something to do w/the sunroof (ie rails etc.) is seriously outa whack.

I had too do this once before as well. Its worth a try, just don't use too much force.

Mine was stuck, this was because i needed to grease up the tracks again. Now, it hauls ***. You'll prolly have to manually open it, clean it out, then apply a generous amount of grease. Although, it could be something else, this is the cheapest way to go. If its not the answer, at least you narrowed it down a bit.
DOOD !!!
if you dont want to get a new car like that other guy said then try this.... this exact thing happened to me. my roof was stuck and would only open up to the point where it would normally start to slide back. i figured it was something to do with the motor. i took the interior roof crap off and checked out the motor. well, the motor was fine so i got to looking in the rails of the sunroof and eureka !! the was a big *** rock in it !! it was hard as hell to see and even harder to get that sum b!tch outta there. once it was out my sunroof works perfectly fine again. considering that you car got hit with a dump truck there could be anything down in there. was you sunroof open at all when the truck hit you ?????
oh yeah ... somehow a damn rock got lodged down in my seat mechanisms and it wouldnt work either.... had to take the seat out hold upside down a shake violently. 2 rocks came bouncing out alone with about $3 bucks in misc. change LOL !!! freaking rocks leave my car along and die !!!

If you open the roof manually you'll see black plastic pieces on each trach with a small spring in it. Mine got f'ed up and was all bent and sideways causing the roof to jam. I got mine bent back good enough to get it to work again.
