building a garage in my backyard
update page 3
just started building a garage in my backyard. its my first building project and its going extremely well.
i dont have up to date pictures, but i'll get them.
the building is 24'x30' w/ 12 foot ceilings and a 16 1/2' building height.
slab and foundation was reinforced for a lift
there will be 220 wired.
it'll be a really nice shop.
had to remove 2 trees. 1 i cut down, the other i had removed

hired a contractor for the dig and concrete work

this thing was at my house for a weekend and everynight they left the keys in it. so tempting

slab laid

back wall is 4' off of slab

decided to do the driveway too

started framing on a friday after work

this far saturday evening

thats all the pics i have for now. the building is almost finished right now. its roofed and sided, we sided the house to match (vinyl). we just got the garage doors in and we ran out of lumber to frame them in with.
i love the experience, fun as hell.

12' ceiling clears a closed top 2 post, i'll have to close the garage door to use the lift, and i'll have to have the hood closed on some vehicles.
not a big deal to me. the kit for the building came like it came. i only made a few changes to the kit, like adding a man door and a second garage door.

I don't know anything about construction but I know if I just did it myself out of the blue it would NOT come out looking like that!

its actually not hard at all. i used the city code as an instruction manual.

about 9000 wrapped up in concrete work, 5200 in the garage kit + enough siding to do the house, and about 2000 in random ish.
some people said it coulda been done cheaper, but i'm happy.

thanks for all the responses, its been a really awesome experience. its a good feeling to start out with a pile of dirt and end up standing on the roof.
