Default Sold the Type-R recently and replaced it with...

2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR
28,000 miles

Here are the professional photography pictures I took. Enjoy.

So far, I like it a lot. I was looking for a car that would be up there high on the "fun" scale like the Type-R was. I will have to say this car brings a smile to my face like the R did.

I've only put ~300 miles on it. So too early to review it. But I can say, the stock R brakes are better than these brakes. Well, maybe I should rephrase that.... The R brakes better than the MR.

I guess if your going to replace an R, that isn't a bad choice. White Evo MR = Hot ... my favorite combo.

Nice Very Nice. I wonder if Evo theft is on the low scale.....

So far how do you like the driving position in the EVO ?? Takes getting used to or is similar to your ITR?

I had to buy a car for my business. I couldn't think of another car at any price that I wanted.

Shameless Business plug..

Compustar 2W900FM alarm w/ Compustar's Computrack (GPS) is going on tomorrow.

It's quite a bit higher, but I don't mind so far.

That's a sweet replacement my friend! I've been toying with the idea of replacing my ITR with an MR. I really want an E46 M3 but I know the maintenance of an Evo would be a lot more economical.

It's interesting, if you do a countrywide search on autotrader there are dealers that still have brand-new '06 MR's for sale. I bet they could be had around invoice.

having owned both the MR and ITR, I cant say the EVO can "replace" the ITR. its two different ball games. there is not a single thing in common between the two. I miss our MR but it is not an ITR replacement. they drive completey different in every way possible. if anything they complement each other and it was nice to have a choice of which one I wanted to drive.

regardless nice pickup. its a fun car

Ive always loved the MR. After having 2 ITR's, I might be following your route (buying a used EVO 9 MR). Anyone want a K20 ITR ??

The braking might be different in the fact that the ITR is lighter and the Evo is a slightly heavier car. The Brembos are really good brakes so they should have some good bite to them.

I have never driven an ITR, hint, hint (he silently pauses for open invitations) but I digress. The evo handles like no other.

The theft rate on the Evo isn't so bad, iirc. Just becareful that if you do add the turbo timer and guages be sure to get a good alarm. From your post it sounds like you did get an alarm going on it. I have been reading from some forums that sometimes people's evos have been broken into just for the turbo timer and after-market stereos while leaving the rest of the car there.

Your profile says you live in CA so check out socalevo.net if you live in the So cal area or norcalevo.net if you live up north. Most of the forum members are cool on the boards but don't believe everything you read on the boards.

Some posters just repeat what they have heard and not what they have done. Anyways nice car and keep her safe.

Cheers,

Oh and where did you sell your ITR?

Congrats on the new ride. Its funny because last night I got pulled over by some cops, when they pulled me over he said they thought I was some 17 yr. old. One cop asked me how much I had payed for my R and he said he would of rather had gotten an EVO. So after they let me go and the one cop saying to me that back in the day he always wanted an R, I considered geting an EVO 9 MR too. I cant drive my R without sweating the jackers and the cops. WTF.

yes, the R is quite a bit lighter. That does count for something, but no matter the weight of the two, I still like the braking better in the R. But don't think I'm complaining about these brakes, I'm not.

The Evo does handle amazing, different, but amazing. But I wasn't looking for a car that handled like the R. Just a newer car that handled as well as the R and most importantly is "as fun". Which honestly, is slim pickings with the cars on the market today.

I'm not worried about it getting stolen. Alarm and such is what I do for a living. I parked my R outside for months. GPS/Alarm ftw. I'm also putting a pretty expensive stereo system in this car, so I have to do what ever I can to keep this car in my possession at all times. But if anything did happen, I have an unbelievable insurance policy on this vehicle.

I'm not in So or No.Cal, I'm in Central California. But I'll look into both Forums. Thanks.

I sold my R Locally to my best friend.

Oh but it did. The R is gone, MR is here.

But you couldn't be more right.

Nice, hopefully still have factory warranty remaining since Mitsu product does not have high standard with reliability. Good Luck!

It does.

Even though, in my experience with my friends Evolutions... On is a '05 RS and the other is a '03. So...

...but anything can happen.

I was in the exact same position.

It was a toss up between the two. But I couldn't afford to fix the M3 if something went wrong.
