HIGH FLOW CAT
your exhaust is what chokes up making more power. you can really go either but having a cat wont restrict power too much.

my exhaust is alright .... I'm worried about melting the innards of a cat; I've seen melted blobs of honeycomb catalyst material after ppl have gone turbo with stock cat and I saw the remnants of what a 150 shot did on a camaro with after market cat. So I was just wondering if the random tech cats would hold up.
speedfos on 7thgencivic.com tore his stock cat up with 30k+ miles on 9lbs of boost.

that article doesnt really tell him whether the cat will stand up to a beating though. it only tells him those gains are minimal if he plans on running light mods. Nowhere does it state anything about any type of forced induction.
cats can die within seconds of being exposed to rich conditions. simple as that. run a cut out if you want a cat or just run a straight pipe. otherwise youll be spending lots of money on converters.
^ oh but it is. i passed emissions twice with no cat. all they look for in 96+ cars is:
-a working check engine light: when you cycle the ignition, the light should come on momentarily, if not, you fail.
-no CEL's if you have a CEL on for any reason, you fail
-readiness monitors: if youve gotten this far, you should be fine unless you disconnected and reconnected your battery a few minutes before the test, you will be rejected and ordered to come back at a later date once all your readiness monitors have run.
so, just make sure you dont have any check engine lights and that youve been driving your car for a day or two without cutting power to the ECU.
