Keyless Entry Question (Alarm activated, keyless died)
Well, my car is currently up at my University because the alarm is activated and my keyless died. I bought this keyless remote two years ago and it already died, I'm a bit irritated as the one before it died too. I noticed my old one's red light still glows when I push the buttons, which is odd, but I think it wasn't sending a signal.
Back on topic, I was going to buy a new one today, but I think I read that you can only have four keyless remotes for a car. I know this will be my third, and since I'm not the original owner I'm unsure if there were more purchased before that Is there any truth to this? If there is, what do I do?
I wouldn't mind disconnecting the alarm and just open the door by hand, but have no idea on how to go about disconnecting an alarm (and I fear I sound like a thief asking anybody). Please help! I'm stranded without my car.
This is on a 1999 Civic EX, by the way.
EDIT: I guess I wasn't clear enough, I already replaced the battery.

replace the batteries? if not I would ask the installer how to detach the alarm, then i would get in the car and detach the alarm. Upgrades are always a good thing!
Oh yea what if you sound like someone that is trying to steal it, remember it is your car! Even the cops can't say **** about it.

I replaced the battery yesterday, it was the first thing I did, still didn't work. Like I said, the keyless remote is dead.

Well, it's the factory alarm, not aftermarket, so I thought someone here might know.

The remote needs to be reprogrammed to the radio.

Just got back from Honda dealership, they said they can't program a new keyless remote without my car being there, and I obviously can't drive it.
He said there is a button to deactivate the alarm between the AM/FM button and the CD Player button. I just pulled up images on google of the CD Player, and I see no such button. Is it perhaps the two radio tuning buttons?
He said there might be a black button underneat the dash that I can hit. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

There was no black button on my radio between the AM/FM and CD player button. Perhaps on the 96-98 there is, but not on my '99. Hmm.
What's the silver button do on the left side near the pull out ash tray?
