Default Newbish question

I have a 1976 Yamaha rd200 2stroke that I would like to get on the road again. I know it needs things like tires and a battery. but also probably needs new front brake pads/bleed and a tune up, and fork seals.

My question is what would a shop charge to give this bike a tune up. Im not talking total overhaul but just to get it ready for the road.

thanks
heres a pic of said bike

nice bike... your gonna have to do your own work on that unless you get lucky and find someone that is an old hand at it in your area. DO NOT let just anyone try there hand at it. they are easy but you'll like need new points nd maybe an ignition and those need to be tuned/gapped. and you may need new reeds amongst other things. these are not fire and forget bikes, but they are very nice bikes. keep in mind that many parts are interchangable for the RD family. your bike looks really complete and totally stock. I found many parts ont ehbay and you need to shop europe to

Cool bike. Like others have said, work on it yourself. Get a good repair manual, and I'm sure there are a wealth of resources online.

Btw, that seat is UGLY lol

Jasper, your RD looks fantastic. The tank, side covers, seat, and rear light look just like the ones on my friend's '73 TX500 (500cc 4stroke twin, 8 valve).

I am in az so there are a lot of dirt bike shops, do you think they would be more knowledgeable on rebuilding this motor?

I had a guy come to look at the bike interested in buying it, and when i started it up he immediately noticed that it had some piston slap. I trust thiks guy as he has a handfull of yamaha 2strokes.
I have pulled the motor and the right piston has a lot of play and is slightly scarred on the dome.
I think im going to order up a service manual ( if i can find one) and tackle it myself though.
