ecu already chipped?
i have a po6 ecu that has a mugen chip already in it. right now its controlling a d15. i was wondering if i replace the engine to a d16 will my ecu work or do i need to take out the chip? and which of the d- engines is the best? im learning as i go so please bare with me.
If you put in a D16, your preferably going to want to run something like a P28, which is the OBD1 SOHC 1.6liter VTEC ecu, those are chipable as well. Did you have the ECU chipped yourself, or did you buy it already chipped?
i bought it chipped. the kid said that the car originally had a 1.6 but the damn car got flooded so he just put in the 1.5. so the po6 wasnt the original ecu for my car?
Open it up and make sure there is a socket in there.
I've had to "re-chip" (lol) many many poeple's ecus, because back in the day, people would just solder in the chip instead of a socket.
