If you put in a D16, your preferably going to want to run something like a P28, which is the OBD1 SOHC 1.6liter VTEC ecu, those are chipable as well. Did you have the ECU chipped yourself, or did you buy it already chipped?

if you replace your engine and want a d16 get a d16z6 in my opinion best engine for d series, and yeah run a p28 if you do a swap.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
i bought it chipped. the kid said that the car originally had a 1.6 but the damn car got flooded so he just put in the 1.5. so the po6 wasnt the original ecu for my car?

open it up and see if it really is chipped. and if vtec was added in when it was chipped, then you should be okay to use it with the d16z6

Open it up and make sure there is a socket in there.
I've had to "re-chip" (lol) many many poeple's ecus, because back in the day, people would just solder in the chip instead of a socket.
