Default alternator going??

my car starts with a new battery but once i use it and let my car run the battery is dead... i know this because i tested this with 3 batterys and each time we took it out of my car after starting it and we put it back into my friend's cars their cars would not start because the battery is dead.... could the alternator be bad and not charging the battery? any input would help thanks

you could have a short to ground too. take out the alternator and have it tested. if its bad then replace it

Start your car. Unhook the positive cable from your battery while the car is running. If it stays running. The alternator is doing its job. If it dies, you need a new one.

There is no in between with this test though. I dont know if your alternator is STARTING to go out. But it will at least tell you if your alt is working or not.........

My 2cents.

Or get a meter and test the battery when the car is running.

Advance Auto will test your charging system for free, and tell you what you need to fix
