Default RPM goes CRAZY after 5K

here is my situation.. if i full throttle and the rpm goes pass 5k, right after that it starts jumping like crazy back and forth... the cluster is a jdm itr cluster, motor is a b20vtec, and i'm using a obd2a distributor (98 gsr)... i swapped out the jdm rpm, km's, fuel, and what not with the usdm stuff.. also the distributor, i noticed that the blue wire is there and missing from the engine harness.. the motor does not have a crank sensor and i am running a jumper 0bd2b-obd1. i'm not sure what the problem is. can it be the cluster or the distributor due to the missing blue wire on (i believe) all 00-01 integra.. i don't know if any of you guys have this problem or experienced this.. any input is greatly appreciated.. thanks

Your problem is in your obd2b to obd1 jumper.
You need to contact whom ever you bought the harness from and get a "modified" version of the jumper specifically for your tach issues.

did you change out the green film on the back of the cluster? try that, if you haven't.

very good chance...as this just happend to me... mine would jump around spratically from time to time (at least 2 times a week) did this for about a month & a half. Until one night while driving on the freeway, i lost power for a second or two doing 65mph, power came right back...so i exited, put some city mileage on, and couldn't find anything wrong underhood, after driving around for another couple hours, it started to cut in and out alot and finally gave out on me, ended up being the coil in the distributor.

that's the same thing that is happening to the car.. i would cruise and all of a sudden the car would just lose power and slow down and pick back up.. and i used the 2001 integra green film in the back of the cluster as well.. thanks for the input..

the speedo works fine.. car drives fine but just the RPM jumps back and forth.. like crazy back and forth.. power is fine but i think it might be something with the missiog blue wire on the engine harness that connects to the distributor..

hello i have the same sort of problem and was wounderin if u all could help. i have a b18c5 in a civic coupe dx and it ran perfect untill i decided to change the cams. so after i change the cams it tries to hit vtec but it cuts off like a fuel or spark cut off, not a rev limit. it just looses power. also my non aftermaket rpm gauge is going crazy it will somtimes just go crazy and shot throu all the rpm ranges. i have compression checked it and adjusted the valves and tuned it a little. but i was woundering if anyone had any ideas. thanks a lot.

where is that @? obd2 DC2 harnesses plug right into EG harnesses. and vice versa. OBD1 p28 harnesses plug into OBD2 dc2s
