cam gear and timing belt top cover...do i REALLY need it ..
I have seen people lose their fingers from not having a cover. Not to mention the fact that rocks/debris can enter that way and kill your belt - and engine in the process.

Probably because its out of the car by what your sig says lol
Leave it on. There is no reason to take it off or completely shave off that portion of the VC to expose the belt and gears. Most people even just cut moon eyes in a VC and only put it on during tuning/dyno
