I have no timming belt cover at all. Chances are better you would get in a wreck and crack your block first.

can't you just use a jig saw and cut a hole in the cover? seeing as how it is made of plastic.

Why not just reinstall the cover after the car has been tuned?

I've just left mine off, never had any problems except when I dropped the keyway for the cam gear into the bottom timing cover when replacing the headgasket.

he didn't put it in there, it got dropped on accident. And by the way, he is no longer in our "circle of friends" anymore.

for those with no upper cover, does your belt 'slap' the lower cover or make odd noise. I put the cover in place and the sound was reduced but I wanted to be sure. Better safe than sorry.
