i have an obd1 gsr motor in my hatch. compression is perfect (210ish across the board) she did run fine.
I put an aftermarket intake manny on it about 2 months ago and now shes smokin. not sure if its the manny or not. its very sluggish up to 6k the its like boost kicks in at 6k all the way up to redline? i hear vtec loud n clear at 4.5k but it seems to not want to really kick in until 6k?
car smokes starting at 5k then gets worse as the rpms go up.
also when im going, lets say 80mph i can let off the gas and coast till im about 60mph-ish and give it gas again and a have a damn smoke cloud behind me??? WTF? anyone know what this might be a sign of, thanks
would that intake manny make my car run lean and smoke? any thoughts...

I did have smoke on my car and it's an obd1 GSR as well... I remember, I removed the stock intake to replace it with a skunk2 manifold, by mistake I damaged the gasket and I put it back, though it was bad. 2nd on the engine, spark plug #1 there as oil in it, I drained the oil and checked back in another week cause the same exact thing was happening as your engine (smoking at high revs and then when it would slow down).
So I decided to change the valve cover gaskets, it comes as a kit. I once again drained the oil out of spark plug # 1 and no oil has appeared again. Then, I replace the intake gasket (just in case).
The car its smoking very very little compare to before. I still haven’t replaced the sparks plugs neither the dizzy cable. After I replace that I will know if it’s the rings or the valves that are going bad.
From my knowledge, the engine smokes because of the rings or the valves are going bad or it my case oil to the spark plugs. Check your spark plugs as well. If anyone knows how to diagnose the rings wear without take the head apart or the valves please pass on your knowledge on.
