Default Locating the Transmission Fill Hole on 96 civic

Hello everyone. First post!

I have a 1996 Honda Civic, manual, with 318,000 miles on it. I'm thinking its time to put some transmission fluid in, but, the instruction manual doesn't say where it is! It only has a diagram showing how to stick your finger in the drain hole to see what the level is. So, opening the hood to try and find it, on the left side of the engine block, there was a 1" high pip with a rubber cap. I'm assuming that this is the place to pour the transmission fluid, right?

Thanks for your help.

that should help you. If you take out your VSS(Vehicle speed sensor) you can fill it up thru there. So with the Fill hole bolt out, fill the tranny thru where the VSS was and stop when oil starts to come out the fill hole. Remember your car must be level when filling or the amount won't be correct. I think its like 2.5 quarts.

The 1" pipe you are talking about is not the right place to fill

Yay! One Do It Yourself job completed.

One hitch, I stripped the fill hole bolt doing it, but, still managed to fill it through the VSS like you suggested.
