Top3 reasons to buy an Si?
Nothing to do with looks....
How do you decidebetween the 2?
05 RSX-s VS Civic Si
You guys can probably answer this better than the RSX guys. Why? Because when you bought your Si, the RSX-s was an option. When they were buying 02-05's they had no other option.
Thanks for you input......Time for me to Accept that K's are the Future of Hondas!

1. LSD
2. They still make the civic. new car vs. a used car that isn't made anymore
3. you can get a sedan si (only option with acura is the TSX)
These were my reasons at least.

Would buy a coupe anyway
Anything about suspension geometry? The car will be Daily Driven but will also see track days. New suspension setup is a given.....

so, you don't mind the RSX being dated? a car that came out in '02 vs. '06?
it's cool if you don't.
thanks for the
I said they were my reasons. just trying to help you out, no need to give me the ******* face... lol

Thanks for your input though...
Potential performance far outweigh looks or interior goodies for me.
BTW: I drive a 93 and 2 94's right now.....even an 02 would be stepping up almost a decade!

The RSX design is dated vs the newer civic.
Keep in mind that any used rsx you find will be "remaining" warranty, vs a brand new civic si with full 3yr /36k
The suspension setup STOCK on the civic si is outrageous with slalom figures beating corvettes (if i recall correctly)
google up some reviews of the car and you'll see what i'm saying
also its more drivern oriented vs the rsx.. in my opinion.
As stated above...LSD is a plus , something that you can add to the rsx BUT will not be warranted AND you'd have to pay your labor on it.
The comparison of the two is a weak one BOTH with strong points.... but keep in mind that the rsx has been phased since its replacement was the civic si. since acura no longer makes a 2 door 4cyl

Warranties aren't important.....probably going to void them right away!
So STOCK vs STOCK the Si handles better but they both have the same potential with the aftermarket? The LSD is important to me but how good is an OEM LSD? If its like other Honda OEMs its good enough for me to get started with.
Its a very tough call....thats why I ran the risk of being flamed to ask the question.
Thanks again guys!
Did anyone here trade their RSX-s for an Si?

I know people that went from RSX to Civic Si... actually alot of them
The ONLY PROBLEM is the drive by wire and ecu... if you are planning CRAZY turbo setups.... go with an rsx... the civic si's ecu is virginal and nothing more than custom flashes for supercharged setups and FI setups.
along with a NA flash.
The RSX has Kpro which is fully tunable.
I had the supercharger with comptech on the si and it was a great car but only YOU know what you would plan for a newer model
But since you said you'd void it and warranty is useless i'd suggest going to find a CHEAP or high mileage 2002 rsx do the front end /rear conversion on it for the 06 fascia and build the motor to your specs
that would be the most cost effective setup AND still put you in a k powered car that you can build.

Sorry to pile on noobs ?'s but I am so OBD1! So no K Pro for the New Si?
I would be doing i/h/e/c very soon after purchase and Im a dyno *****. If I can't fully tune the Si I will just never feel like its tuned right. No turbo or s/c. Its going to be an N/A setup with a possible burst of the giggle gas. Yes, I am a nitrous ***** too!
Civic Si
1. LSD
RSX-S
1. Throttle Cable
2. K Pro
Anything about the suspension?
The thoughts of a higher mileage 02rsx have crossed my mind.....immediately do i/h/e/c/kpro.....Who cares about looks when the car runs 13's N/A!
Thanks for the input guys.....the RSX crowd won't even touch this question it seems.

Well like others have stated, you can tune the RSX more to what you want it to be than the civic (but probably that'll change in the future?). That drive-by-wire kinda kills the fun. Haha, no offense to my fellow civic owners, but I like the RSX looks A LOT more than the civic
the civic handles wonderful, my si went 14.8 stock and the lsd is sweet. but the lack of kpro yet kinda sux, but its not too big of a deal for me cause im not tryin to do anything to the car til at least 20k and she only has 1200 miles on her currently, so by then im sure there will be some sort of hondata other than the reflash, after all it took like 2 yrs for kpro to come out for the rsx

This is tough....Going to go drive an Si in the next day or so. Ive already driven the RSX. I have to make sure Im comfortable in an Si before I even go a step further. Im 6'6"

I am 6'6" as well. I just make sure the seat is lowered all the way down and lean it back some. I had to play around with it for a little bit to get it just right, but now I'm perfectly comfortable in my '07 Si coupe.
I say get the Si. Since they are still making it, people will continue to make (and improve upon) after market parts. Once more parts come out, I think that you will be able to make the Si much better than the RSX.

It really depends on what you want out of the car. The Si is not tuneable yet short of reflashes. older RSX-Ss can be bad *** with a few mods and a tune. If you aren't into heavy modding then the Si would definately be the way to go. Better handling, LSD, probably cheaper insurance than a type-S (assuming both years are 06 and both are full coverage)
Civic Si

3. Map Sensor
Maybe the biggest stumbling block is that Honda has switched engine management in a big way. There is now a mass airflow sensor on the K20Z3. In the past, Honda had always used speed density for computing airflow, but ever-tightening emissions standards forced Honda to make the switch.
According to Doug McMillan of Hondata, "The primary sensor for deciding the amount of fuel is now the mass airflow sensor. At part throttle and low engine speeds, it's highly accurate at measuring the actual grams per minute of airflow into the engine. And yes, you're right, it was probably done for emissions reasons. Many other companies already use mass airflow."
What that means to us tuners is that an ECU from an RSX modified by Hondata and called K-Pro, won't work in a '06 and up Civic Si.

So there will or will not be K-PRO for the z3? I was under the impression that it was being developed.
If there is no K Pro that blows. Might as well leave her stock and buy a bike already

1. like everyone else already said, LSD.
2. the alcantra seats. i would take the Si's front seats over the RSX-S's anyday (IMO of course).
3. this depends on what year RSX you're thinking about. If you're thinking about an 02-04, the K20Z3 in the Si has better cams and intake manifold than the K20A2 in the type S. If you're thinking about a 05-06, the K20Z1 in the type S has the same cams, but the Si's Z3 still has the advantage with the intake manifold (which is the Accord Euro R IM, just letting you know because you said you are sorta new to K motors).
I highly doubt you would regret your purchase no matter which one you choose. I love the 05-06 RSXs, and if it wasn't for the FG2, I most likely would've bought one of those.
Alot of people complain about the DBW, but honestly overtime I've just adjusted to it. People say there's a lag, but at least for me, it's pretty minimal.
