Default Acura Part # 08E49-ST7-200G, Switch, Hood Security

Saw this on Sons Acura parts web page, but there was no picture or description. Does anyone know what it really is? I'm just looking for additional security measures for my ITR and at $31 thought it might be worth looking into. It was under Electrical Accessories.

My understanding is that it is just a hood pin switch. Are you running a stock alarm?

Yeah, I think that's just an attachment to your OEM alarm for the hood. Useless, IMO. Just put up some more motion sensor lights around your house with that $31. Or get a dog.

It's an attachment for the OE Accessory Security System.

I wonder how hard it would be to use it in an AUX in my aftermarket system....

Shouldn't be difficult at all. Most decent alarms come with a hood pin switch anyways. If not, they should have a hook up for one

Indeed, though you can pick up an aftermarket hood pin switch for around $5, rather than spending $30 at Acura.

Buy from an auto alarm installation shop.
