Default Vibrant Performance Needs Your Feedback 2.5" Prelude Header Build

Hello Boys and girls..

As most of you probably know there is not much aftermarket support currently for the Prelude with headers using a 2.5" collector. I just spoke to Dino Rossi at Vibrant Performance in Canada. They are seriously considering coming out with a 2.5" collector but we all need to show them that there is definately demand for this!

Finally we don't have to buy subpar 2.25 headers that compromise performance or shell out over a thousand bucks on a custom piece. Vibrant will be reviewing this thread.

This product is LONG OVERDUE, Let's show them we need this! Please send your emails to Dino Rossi at Vibrant

Nearly definitely h22 dude, but making an h23 version would be simple once they have the design down.

I'm good right now as far as a header is concerned, but my brother would definitely pick one up

I am running 2 Vibrant headers right now.....
I love them and for the price you can't really beat them.....You could buy a Camp1320 and have welds break on you or you could buy an ESP which looks like a DC. The Vibrant on my S2S1 setup made 9whp/6tq more than a Greddy all the way across the board.....
Keep me posted......I may be in for some dyno testing if they need it.....
My shop is a distributor for them so maybe that'll help.....Last time I talked with them, they said they would love to have me test for them but geography kept us apart. I was going to buy a HyTech over winter(and may still) but I would love another option for my Daily Driver......
Maybe a 2.25" vs 2.5" test????

You won't get any backpressure with a 3" header you idiot. You need backpressure to make torque, so don't be dumb.

Then that would include roughly 5k posts from his 10k totals! (I kid, I kid!)

I'd definitely be interested in a 2.5" collector header. Any other details about the rest of the header? Or is going to be their current design with just a bigger collector? If they can make a 4-1 header fit, that'll be even more awesome!

How hard would it really be?( I haven't seen the 2 flanges side by side) I will have to find out what header the KING MS H23 was running. It was making stupid power.....#'s were like Pirates G23 IIRC.....this was in a 4th gen Cup Car following some pretty strict rules
GUDE is sticking in my head but Im not sure.....I think I just associate GUDE with all things Non-VTEC!
Jared......this is writing on the wall dude.......you need an H22 Head!

who cares what size the collector is if it makes power. why not design a better header instead? one that makes considerable power over the old version. wouldnt this make sense?

Changing the collector is alot easier than designing a new header.....The price is what makes Vibrant so nice. Of course I would love to see a $500 Vibrant that hung with the Big3 Race headers. I don't think it would take much.

They come in SS and have a nice blue/gold color after they see heat.

If they do decide to do this do you think they will be making one for an SH model? I'm in the market and if I can get away from spending a grand then I would be interested as well.

I was origionally going to go with a Hytech but it's hard to justify for that price.

You don't want backpressure... you want exhaust velocity to make torque/hp. IN GENERAL a larger collector will allow higher exhaust velocity at higher RPMs thus having more horsepower at higher RPMs at the loss of low end power as the exhaust velocity is lower due to having too large of exhaust piping. A smaller collector allows high velocity at lower RPMs, thus more low end horsepower at the loss of high end as the header becomes a bottleneck preventing higher flow. This is very generalized as it does not take into account exhaust scavenging. Backpressure ALWAYS hurts horsepower as it does not allow exhaust to efficently exit the combustion chamber, which can dilute the intake.

Everything is a compromise between high and low end power...

Vibrants products have been decent. I would support and probably end up buying that header to replace my dc, depending on the vibrant's cost
