check your alt belt tension, sounds to me like its to tight or to loose.

hey thanks for the replies. the alternator belt i just tried loosening and tightening, but it still sounds the same. are you guys saying that the alternator belt is causing the noise to the crank pulley or just from the belt. i assure that the sound is not coming from the alt. belt. i put my ears really close to those two items and its coming from the crank pulley i just dont know why its doing it though.

my car sounds broke and get nasty looks at red lights lol

Hi there.... I may be a little late but would you please tell me how you resolved the issue? I am having the very same problem with my 1998 Accord.... Very loud cranking noise from around the crank pulley.

My mechanics told me that it was the problem of the crank pulley and he wanted to charge me $300 for it. I actually changed the crank pulley myself but the same problem still exists.... Lucky that I didn't pay that guy.
