question about tint for 07 accord owners?
I have an 07 accord coupe and just got it tinted. But the car scratched the tint film on both my windows. Does anyone else have that problem? Just wondering what the cause would be and what to do to make it not scratch the tint.
What do you mean <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jshi182 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> the car scratched the tint film on both my windows. </TD></TR></TABLE> Do you mean, when you put it down, it got scratched. Sorry, but I dont really understand what you mean by that
Oh, jshi182, I also have the same problem. I have mild vertical line scratches in my tint caused from the inside of the tint. I'm not sure why, probably because the thickness of the window increases just a bit with tint, and causes the car to scratch it?
In any case, there isn't really anything you can do about it. I have a lifetime warranty on my tint, so I should just go get it redone.... I don't know what you'd want to do, maybe get it re-done and find a place that gives tint warranty?

There is a felt that needs to be appied to the area where the window rubs. I've heard about this for the coupes, but not sure if it applies to the sedan to. My 03's windows were tinted when I bought it, so I don't know if the felt was applied or not. I have no scratches in 4 years though.

okay i think i got it figured it out. After running back and forth from the dealer to tint shop (which they both kept blaming each other) theres a really flexible bar in there that can get bent really easily which causes scratches in the tint. After it was bent straight i haven't had any scratches in the new tint but then again its been only a couple days since they retinted.
It does have to do with the FELT.
A good shop checks to make sure you have felt installed on the inner surface that actually touchs the window.
IF NOT, they have to charge a little extra to install a strip of felt on the usually rubber that touches the window. This prevents the scratching of the tint

Similar thing happened to me on 99 Accord EX when I got it retinted. Turned out that kick panel speaker screws were too long. Just replace the speaker screws with shorter ones.
