GSR VS ITR
I am looking to get a new motor but witch would be better if i was planing on taking it apart anyways and getting better internals? and what would the better interals be i wanted to start with the block (i have thrown 2 rods in 2 diffrent motors in the past) and then i was going to work on the head thanks

What exactly are you planning to do? It doesn't seem as if you've given much thought to your goals for the setup. The last thing you want to do is Lego build and end up with an expensive motor that doesn't perform very well.
what model of b16 head currently i am running an LS-V i think i have the obd2 on it. should i go jdm or not? besides me getting cams, springs, valves, retainers, cam gears, intake manifold, and throtle body in it, is there much more you can do to a head?
If you are eventually going to get cams, valves, etc. just get whick ever b16 head that you can that is chaeper (as long as it is not messed up) and you can add dizzy etc. to make it what obd version you need.
First I would say, edit your first post, and make a parts list of what you want,
then we can understand more easily of what you want to do.
But basically you want to pick up a bseries that already has vtec?
Do you want to jump right into building it up, or play with the stock engine for a while?

in my teg i already have an ls v but i want to get another motor to put on the side and build while my ls v is still alive and kickin it. i dont know the mods that i want yet but i would like to completely build the block and the head (and if that means getting just an b18c1 or c5 bottom end and then building my head that i currently have on my ls v witch is a b16 head) i am down for i just need ideas for good reliable parts and witch parts i should be replacing for example i have herd from people that if i was going to get better valves i would only need to replace the intake valves and leave the exsaust ones i dont know the reasoning behind this but they said that i am just looking for imput on what you would do to your car if you were going to try to get rid of your ls v and go gsr or itr thx
If your already running a properly built lsvtec you wouldn't want to get a gsr or itr, they got less torque than the lsvtec. And if the lsvtec is built and tuned properly it should be able to rev just as high. I take my lsvtec to 8500 rpm all the time, i don't rev it any higher though cause im only running BC3 cams

this is a completely ridiculous statement, why take a perfectly good GSR head and replace it with a b16.
THE B16 HEAD IS NOT SUPERIOR TO THE GSR!!! drop a ITR valvetrain and cams or better in the GSR head and it will perform as well and probably better due to the small bump in compression.

Let's not turn this into yet another ITR/B16 vs GSR head thread.
And to the OP, you have not defined your goals and you have not defined whether you are going for aftermarket internals or just OEM internals. But I think it's common sense as to what you should do.... If you're going to buy a motor and just replace everything, why buy a top of the line motor?
Just buy a bare GS-R head and a bare GS-R block. This is assuming you'll be using after market parts.

so what i hear is that i should keep my ls-v and just build that up? and if it were to blow just take out the valve train and pistions that i am wanting to put into my ls-v and swap it over to a gsr? i would be wanting an stable valve train that could take alot of stress (9.5 grand for example) should i upgrade the rods too? if i wanted to run better pistions and what parts should i get for all of this? seeing as how i would be doing this to a motor that i am going to be driving every so offten i would want to be doing it part by part where should i start and where should i stop please in order, and what kind of tranny should i get i have a gsr but with my 00 si the gears seamed to be shorter (i couldnt tell you by how much i forget becuase it has been a year since i have driven the car) please give me some ideas about what i should do and in what order i should do it with my ls-v
You won't make 250whp N/A out of an ITR or GSR with an $8,000 budget let alone a $3,000 budget.
Go boost if you want that kind of power, or do a K20 swap; which is still a lot more than $8,000 for just the swap.

well what should i do than to get power for the buck i dont care what i have to replace just for n/a and if the motor is still reliable enough later on after i make it n/a boost it
