Distributors do have components that wear, and they shouldn't be considered "lifetime" items. Try replacing the cap and rotor, and see if that helps your problem. If not, you may need a whole new unit.

yup, already replaced cap and rotor at same time about 2 months ago, and still gives weird noise at warmup

I had to replace the distributor on my 90 GS, then after I sold it the guy told me that it went out again a few months after he bought it.

I had to replace the coil on my 95 LS three times

And the maintenance records look like the coil was replaced on my current 93 LS

If that's what they said, that's total b.s. Just google image "Earth" and look and see where Japan lines up (in relation to the equator) with North America. It's nearly identical.

as a rule of thumb, all honda owners should always keep in their glovebox:

a new main relay
a new ignitor
a new coil
a 10 mm wrench
a phillips screwdriver

and with those things, you can basically fix 75% of problems you will ever encounter

I had a really weird dizzy problem. The oil seal inside the dizzy spindle wore out and I was leaking oil out the bottom of the dizzy housing. I'm not talking about the o-ring on the outside of the dizzy. It's the one inside the dizzy. You can't even see it until you pull the whole dizzy apart. Unbelievable. Took forever to figure out that it was my dizzy leaking oil and not some other source. The amazing thing was the dizzy was operating just fine. LOL. So yeah, I've had dizzy problems.

that will eventually drown the electronics inside and ruin the internals. you need a new housing. when this happened to me, i just picked up a used unit then swap all your insides into it.
