How to get the Brake Lamp Light Off??
ok i obviously know what the brake lamp light means. i replaced the blown brake bulb, but the light is still on....so, i figured i put a faulty bulb in, had my fiance push the brake pedal down, i looked, and everything worked...when i start the car, the BRAKE LAMP light doesnt come on until i hit the brakes for the first time...anyone know if you have to reset the light or something dumb? thanks!
ive never replaced the housing, and it has the stock spoiler, but it doesnt have an led in it, i dont think, id check but its raining hard outside......anyone?
Mine does this because i have the bulb housing off another prelude, and my led spoiler is running off it. I was told it was drawing too much power for how that one was made and thus tricking my car into thinking I have a bulb out. I'm just about to pull my brake lamp bulb in the dash and be done with it. I say do the same if your tails are working properly.
I had this problem. It was the little box on the tail light housings. I got both swapped out with 94-96 housings with a spoiler. I had to ground an extra wire and the light went away. Try to replace the housing with the exact same one from your model.

So for my own reasons, I have a "brake lamp" come on today, but it reset itself when the car was turned on and off. There is plenty of brake fluid and all the brake lights work fine. Could it mean it needs brakes?
Last time I checked the front brake pads they had like a decent ammount of pad left, Ill have to check again, mabey in the morning.

Go to AutoZone and buy some load equalizers, they're kinda pricey there but at least you won't have to stare at that annoying little light while you wait for shipping. They as right next to the LED bulbs. Whether you have after market LED tail lights, swapped connector boards, after market LED bulbs, or added a wing with the LED brake light your problem is most likely just caused by an uneven load on the harness. The load equalizers SHOULD fix all your problems unless you have a serious wiring problem.
+2... i once had the brake light coming on every time i braked... added some brake fluid and voila !!! never came back on !!!
All you need to do is take off the cap off your brake resvoir and there is a plunger, it is just a simple float switch it just needs to be moved up and down a couple time.
My car done the same thing and i had plenty of brake fluid but that switch will trun your parking brake lamp on that should fix it..

So all I have to do is jiggle that switch? Ive topped it off with Brake fluid, and it does stay off for a time, but its been coming on. All the brake lights work.
Ive also heard that there is something under the steering wheel that can come lose and cause this to happen as well, any ideas on the one?

Yes it is just a little plunger float move it up and down a couple of times, there is also a connection @ your brake petel unplug it and plug it a couple of times and that should do it.
My car done only when it was a lil could outside and when I hit the brakes, the lamp would come on.

The failure could also be related to the ABS system; the brake lamp indicator gives errors for more than just burned out bulbs and low fluid indicating. You should be able to check this codes by jumping the check engine light connector thing.
FWIW, my 93 vtec did this and it was a faulty wheel speed sensor.
Good luck.

Thanks, my ABS light has been on for awhile now, and everytime I jump the harness, the light does not blink, it stays solid

All cars have an indicator for pad life. Its called brake fluid. This is why you should never, never, never top off your brake fluid in a good operating brake system.
