Alright first of all, I'm assuming we all agree that auto = fail. The thing is, i've had a problem with my auto tranny for quite a while, say about 2 months even though i only but about 2k miles on it (bought it with 89k miles), and im planning on having it swapped to a manual. At first, i was considering repairing it, sell it, then purchase a new one. But i thought....why not use the money i would on a new lude and have it converted? Considering my being a full time student and low on cash, i think this would be a great idea.
Other than that my questions are:
1. Do all auto ludes (1998+) come with the Tiptronic shifting?
2. If so, would swapping the tranny for a manual tranny be the same or more difficult?
3. What would be the cost of a conversion to have it professionally installed?
4. Unfortunately i dont know a lot about mechanics, so would i have to buy the parts, or could the person who's converting it select the parts and i just pay?
5. Are there any downsides of having a conversion to a manual?
Well, i suppose that's it for now...THank you in advance, i really appreciate those who take the time to make my time here worthwhile.

Okay rule of thumb with mechanics, buy all your parts before you go to see one.
Ive heard it cost as much as 1000 bucks in labor.
