Another ITR almost stolen in NJ......
Geeze ...... when is this **** going to end?? An H-T member's ITR was broken into here at work in the parking lot in broad daylight!!! ( a few hours ago)
They managed to get into his car, f up the steering console, and pushed his car (with another car) to the other end of the parking lot. They didn't get away with the car but the car is scrathed up pretty badly......... its hitting too close to home.
Luckily I didn't get my ITR fixed this past weekend or my car would have been parked outside next to him. They would have easily snagged my car next.
****!!! This just solidifies my decision to sell the damn car! **** it!

Alright, I never comment on these things because they make me sick, but I'm tired of seeing everyone be like "Sorry man!" "
" "**** thieves!" etc.
So what the **** can we do about it? Anything? We need more protection and that means protection by the law. Increased sentences, penalties, etc. Change the way the police and the state handle the situation. If we all care so much why do we just sit back and take it in the ***? Autolock this, lojack that. **** that. How long are we going to spend loads of cash protecting ourselves, only to be unsuccessful, and watch our insurance rates rise and our investments nulled. I'm sure in 5 years it won't be the DC2 chassis that's victimized, the money will move to another car and the same situation will exist.
This is only getting worse and will continue to get worse until SOMEBODY does SOMETHING. So let's do something. A major initiative. How are we going to get the message through to our elected authorities? We need to take it through the system, so let's do it already. Throw out some goddamn ideas, people.
Or are we all too lazy and just tell ourselves we can't have an impact on the situation? Is this a hopeless cause? We live in the USA and in all practicality can't choose what kind of car to drive? ****!
I don't even live in an area that I have to worry, and I'm still pissed.

sack-who's pissed.

I have thought about placing a bit of C4 around the ecu that is wired up to go off when the trim is removed... (unless a saftey wire is shorted out).... but that has some saftey issues.
I have been lucky.... my insurance has gone down instead of up.

I have thought about talking with the local crime squad about a 'sting' operation. I would gladdly loan my car (with me nearby, watching, wif da c0ps)... but they would laugh in my face.
I am lucky that the major theft rings have not visited close. But that will change soon I feel.

Man you're missing the picture. We can't effectively protect ourselves anymore without breaking the law and putting our lives at risk.
This is getting somewhere:
Think bigger. Think lobbying, calling your congressman, state representatives.

Yep there's been enough talking, its time for action!
Nick, give me a call today or tomorrow. This is horrible that happened to your friend. These thefts are getting rediculous. Sometimes I wish I drove a comaro or something, maybe then I wouldn't be paranoid every time I drive my car. Your best bet is to keep the car in the garage and bring it out on sundays, period.

Past due. I have no ideas, I'm merely trying to light a fire under everyone's ***. Will likes fire. I like fire. Now how about we brainstorm here?
It's the reality of the world we live in today.
Since we can't change the way people are (be realistic), we can only change the ways in which we respond to their behavior.
All we can do is everything in our power to keep our cars safe and out of the hands of thieves.
Reid - who wishes America had harsher punishment, get caught stealing = loose your hands, but the conservatives cry too much...
i have an idea. just take out one of the rims by jacking up the car with a jack everytime you have to park somewhere . LOL. j/k.
man it really sux to hear that man. plus, it ******* happened while u were at work?
holy ****.
when is it gonna stop!!!. *******...
good luck in protecting the car.

How can we exact any changes that will make thieves think twice? A petition for stricter laws/sentencing guidelines? Sure, lets start one (for every state). Then lets watch the red tape pile up, and maybe, if we're lucky, new laws will be passed. But it will be a LONG time before they are put into place. Even if that's successful, I really dont think it will make these worthless lowlifes blink an eye. Overcrowded prisons/courtsystems ensure that, if caught, they aren't going to have do nearly as much time as they should.
Unfortunately, I really dont think there's anything we can do to attack the root of the problem. If the parts from our cars didn't fit into other Hondas, we wouldn't be having this big of a problem. But, the gov cant tell Honda how to build their cars.
Sting operations? Maybe. Maybe not. That would probably work to get a few punks off the streets, but again, I dont think its much of a deterrent. Honestly dont know what would be a viable deterrent...
In the end... As much security as possible on the car. And if you get the chance to catch one in the act, make sure everyone from his thieving friends to his grandmother can feel the pain hes going thru.
-Super7- who's pissed that this keeps happening and pissed that not much can be done about it

And I agree, comments like "thieves die" "**** thieves" etc. WONT DO ****.
Here is what I have done since my GSR got partially stripped this past April.
1. I park my car in the driveway as a trap at least once a week. I sleep near the garage (family room), dog in the garage, and a Glock near me.
2. I call my local PD about the status of my case. It is likely they don't do **** but at least they know someone wants something done.
3. Be careful who you buy and sell to, especially in meets. I'd rather be paranoid than lose my car.
4. I wrote to two local body shops in my area who are believed to be using/buying stolen parts from stunnas (this info came from a Hayward PD). I did not accuse them but I let them know that the stunnas selling them parts are possibly thieves. I also wrote that if they happen to get a hold of the parts taken from me, to contact me blah blah blah.

Sorry for whose ever H-T ITR this was
Thieves are getting really ballzy. It' jast a fricking ITR motor thieves
I am sick of these people taking other people's stuff and messing it up. You thieves have no morals and I can't wait for you to be caught and when you do, you proly do it again, unless or laws change for pentalties and stuff.
I dunno if I would sellthe R. I'd proly find a beater to drive around and only drive the R for safer areas :S but then again, what areas are safe
It all depends where your car is stored too but if you don't want to worry about this, then maybe sell off the R and have some piece of mind

What type of anti-crime groups can be formed to slow theft down, that have not already been tried? How many of you have a "neighborhood crime watch" and it does absolutely nothing to stop theft/vandalism?
That's what I'm getting at. You wish America had harder punishment. So how about we make that happen? With enough voice it's possible. Now getting people off their whining asses in order for that to happen......
You should lose all rights the moment you comment certain laws.

In CA at least, they must be in your property and don't shoot in the back nor empty your clip. Garage and driveway is your property. I have discussed this with my brother in laws friend (an SFPD) and he said when burglars get shot, beaten, etc, cops will always find ways to NOT make a case even if it is the "gray" area.
Just make sure they hit you first.
