when im just cruising along, and its in 3rd or 4th gear in the low rpms, ill jam the pedal, just cuz, and it'll start to speed up but while it speeds up, it sounds like it just cuts out, almost like the engine shuts off for like half a second, and makes little putts, does anyone know why?

When was your last tune up???

 

oil is fine but spark plugs might be a while. Think that might be a problem? Probably about 10-15k miles. I just dont know if it could be the plugs cause this never happened to me before. thanks for the reply

 

check your spark plugs or wires....might not be connected right....fuel cut off????

Give more information. Define low rpms....do you consider low to be 1rpm or 5000rpm? If you haven't changed your plugs in 10-15k miles then you need to change them. Honda's suck *** in terms of torque which means they are not meant to have the gas nailed in the really low rpms (like 1500).

 

i've done it before and it didnt happen before. It's like fuel cut off. Rpm under 2k

 

Most likely not your fuel system if the engine revs fine as your rpms increase. Most likely your ignition system causing the bog. try this: get a small squart bottle and put a drop or 2 of soap in it and add some water. shake it up to stir the mixture and as your car is running spray the length of each ignition wire as your car is running. If you notice it get worse the wire you are spraying when it gets worse is the issue. If nothing turns out try pulling the wires out of the spark plug tubes.

Your vavle cover might be leaking and your spark plug tube might be full of oil and grounding out the spark at low rpm.

If that still is not he case pull the plugs, ignition cap and inspect everything.

I bet the problem lies in your ignition system.

my 95 gsr doing same thing, i even unplugged the o2 sensor still does it. at idle if you mash the throttle it will start to bog out and will die out if you dont let go of throttle. it will eventually start back up but a puff of smoke will come out of the "intake/aircleaner" could it be the map sensor? its not the plugs, changed the fuel filter and fuel pump and still does it. distributor is pretty new also. HELP!

Why would you do that?

To the OP, what engine, what year, what ECU, any CELs?

 

everyone was telling me it was my o2 sensor, to rule out the o2 sensor you just have to unplug it, veh still bogged. (that came from an acura mechanic) its a 95 gsr.
when it starts to bog, the intake will make a strange noise like its choking, smoke even came out when it bogged heavily. messed with timing, same thing. i read somwhere to check the ground wires that come from the engine. i see this topic alot on web but no one ever posts the solution. from idle put the gas pedal down slowly, veh will not bog unless you are in 3rd, 4th, 5th taching under 2200rpm, then the engine will start to bog until you downshift and get revs above 3500.

 

personally, i would guess something with the fuel... to much, its bogging and then gotta catch up, not enough starving for a sec, till it catchs up.

 

this happen to me before and i have a DA try changing your sparks plug/spark plug wires/ and if it doesnt help then check your fuel line

its fixed! i changed the IGNITER (located in the distributor) & ROTOR! CARS RUNS GREAT NOW!

make sure you let us know if you found the problem. my car is doing the same thing - if i press the gas hard when i need to pass someone when i'm in 4th or 5th gear, it sometimes hesitates for a sec or two, almost as if one of the cylinders isn't firing normally. as i slowly accelerate, the hesitation goes away.

my car will also hesitate sometimes when i take off normally from a dead stop. its like i need to give it more gas than i normally need to get it going and avoid the hesitating.. i also notice it is slowly but surely getting a little worse by the day.. just haven't had time to really look into it.

I am still waiting on new spark plugs I ordered cause the stores around here dont carry them. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes as soon as i get that tune up. It looks like that could be the problem as i researched and most seem like that was the problem but as we all know a same problem can be caused by a different problem. I'll update as soon as it happens.
