Default B18B vs B20B...

Sup, guys. My buddy Kage has a boosted 94 LS (Garrett T3/T4, 8 lbs.), and he wants to replace his motor bcuz of very high miles on hit. He has a B18B but wants to do a B20B, but he wanted me to come on here and q's first:

1) Is it a bigger bore, or a longer stroke (or both) that gives the B20 its larger displacement?
2) What is the B20's redline?
3) Will I be able to use my street tuned Uberdata ECU from my B18B?
4) Are there any disadvantages the B20B may give up to the B18B?

Hit me up guys, and I'll pass the info to him. Thanks.

He already has everything setup including the tune for an LS. Just tell him to go grab him another one. Im pretty sure the LS can handle more power on stock internals too.

1) Bigger displacement is due to larger bore, same stroke as the b18.
2) 6300 or around there.
3) Don't know.
4) Sleeves are thinner than the B18 and therefore are weaker.

I'm trying to get him to stay B18B myself. I keep trying to tell him larger displacement is not always a good thing, and he is already set up for a B18. I'm running 12 lbs. on my B18B now, and I love it!

Thanks guys, I'll let him see your replies, maybe you can talk some sense into him.

who cares about high miles as long as it's healthy. if it needs a rebuild, then tear it down and put in stronger parts. put it back together and jack up the boost

yup a rebuild might be a good idea also instead of grabbing another LS.

Depends on how pricey a solid LS motor will be.

Exactly.

If i was to do it, i'd sleeve the block and go with forged pistons and rods, but that would be a nice chunk of change, considering you cant trust just anyone with a honda block, not to mention the insane tolerances you have to deal with. Labor alone will be insane. Dont think his pockets are up for it...

Yes I admit, I have seen for myself some really strong stock numbers from B20s.
